AROUND 200 people gathered in a Wirral hotel to help choose the region's favourite cheese.
They sampled 19 different regional cheeses in four separate categories cows, goat & ewe, blue and semi-soft.
The People's Choice Cheese Awards, at the Thornton Hall Hotel, is just one of the events being held in the run-up to the Wirral Food and Drink Festival, where the winners will be announced later this month.
Laurel and Hardy (aka Gary Slade - Stan and Rob Graham - Ollie) were on hand to greet guests at the beginning of the evening.
