READING, Pa., May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Metropolitan Edison Co. and Pennsylvania Electric Co., and the PJM Interconnection Association power pool experienced a higher than usual demand for electricity today due to the unseasonably hot weather, and initiated a five percent voltage reduction at about 3:00 p.m. This is a step taken by operators to prevent emergency service interruptions.

The companies have issued an electric power advisory for tomorrow, due to the expected continuation of hot weather. Customers are asked to use electricity prudently to help prevent possible power supply problems.
