TWO cousins have been found guilty of assaulting a pair of Asian builders outside a mosque.
Hartlepool pair Gary Rowbotham, 19, and Carl Bown, 20, were found guilty by a jury at Teesside Crown Court after subjecting Mansoor Hussain Abbas and Irfan Ahmed, both 21, to a torrent of physical and verbal abuse.
During the trial, Rowbotham and Bown denied that they were racist, but both were found guilty of racially aggravated offences. The attack took place in Brougham Terrace, Hartlepool, on April 23, after Rowbotham became both "angry" and "paranoid" at hearing Mr Abbas and Mr Ahmed speaking in their native Urdu language.
