THE Irish food processing plant at the centre of an international salmonella scare shut its doors last night.
Management at Dawn Farm Foods in Naas, Co. Kildare made the decision to temporarily close down the business to allow a pharmaceutical-grade clean down of the factory after meat from the plant was linked to the latest outbreak.
A Europe-wide public health alert is in place after it was confirmed that up to 119 people have so far been infected by the salmonella agona outbreak, which has been linked to products from Dawn Farm Foods.
