May 22--Long a mainstay in the West Shore business community, Iceland Seafood Corp. is considering a move outside of Pennsylvania so it can upgrade its production operations.
Hal Carper, Iceland's president and chief executive officer, said the company told the unions representing a majority of Iceland's 300 employees that it needs to make a major capital investment in the business and it may be "advantageous" to make that investment elsewhere.
He said Iceland needs to modernize its production lines, something that may not be feasible at the existing Lower Allen Twp. facility.
