GERVASE Phinn is not only an extremely popular writer but, due to his passion, dedication and wonderful sense of humour he must be one of the greatest adverts for the education profession.
The 59-year-old Yorkshireman has been dubbed the 'James Herriot of schools' for his hilarious tales of life as a schools inspector. He is best known for his four autobiographical novels The Other Side of the Dale, Over Hill and Dale, Head Over Heels in the Dales and Up and Down in the Dales.
His whole life appears to be education - whether it be his collection of funny stories, memories or the numerous roles in the profession he has carried out.
