A MEMORIAL to commemorate the Battle of Trafalgar and the Manxmen who served in it will be blessed on June 29.
The granite memorial statue will mark the British naval victory of the combined French and Spanish Fleets at Trafalgar and, in particular, the contribution of almost 70 Manxmen to the triumph.
Planning delays have put the unveiling of the statue back twice as permission by the Government Planning Committee was only granted in February.
The statue, an anchor and a memorial stone, will be blessed by the Bishop Graeme Knowles and amongst others, Lieutenant Governor Vice-Admiral Sir Paul Haddacks will be laying a wreath.
