THE success of marketing is dependent on 10 rules, according to the UK marketing director of HSBC James Boulton.

The presentation 10 Rules for Future Marketing Success was made at the Manx Business Connection business breakfast.

Mr Boulton, 40, is responsible for a marketing budget of more than [pounds sterling]100 million and is one of the UK's top marketers.

He was the marketing director of Walkers Crisps, then head of marketing at Halifax Bank of Scotland and HSBC, which includes First Direct.

Mr Boulton says the first rule is to build a team of well trained specialist marketers.
