PHILADELPHIA, May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Five of Pennsylvania's largest communications companies today announced they have formed a coalition to support the geographic split as the most proconsumer and procompetitive method of impelementing new area codes for Southeastern Pennsylvania. The coalition asserts that Bell Atlantic's plan, which overlays the new code in the existing 215 and 610 areas, is anticompetitive and would force consumers and businesses to dial 11 digits for every call they place, including local calls.
