Amtrak announced last month that it had put into service its new Viewliner sleeping cars on the New York-New Orleans Crescent and the New York-Chicago Lake Shore Limited. They're the first single-level sleepers to be built in America in more than four decades.
Eventually, 50 Viewliner sleepers will be in service on the Crescent and the Lake Shore Limited as well as the Silver Service trains between New York and Miami/Tampa and the overnight NortheastDirect service between Washington and Boston.
