NEWPORT NEWS, Va. _ Margarete Dodds has pleaded with prosecutors and appealed to politicians for help bringing an Englishman to justice for killing her daughter in an alcohol-related crash nearly seven years ago.
Dodds may soon get her wish, though she feels betrayed by the light sentence awaiting the international fugitive under a plea bargain. She says a Newport News prosecutor told her that in exchange for Paul D. Rudkins' guilty plea to involuntary manslaughter, Rudkins would receive 30 days in jail.
Rudkins is due to appear for sentencing in Newport News Circuit Court on Tuesday, according to Dodds.
