WHEN, as a teenager back in 1996, Ben Ainslie became the youngest sailor in history to win an Olympic medal, his round the world yachtsman father made a bold prediction.
'Ben will win gold in 2000. No question,' stated Rod Ainslie, describing the sale of the family home and the investment of ??25,000 into an Atlanta campaign that yielded a silver medal as 'money well spent'.
The proud father might have added 2004 and 2008 to the mix and, for good measure, thrown in 2012.
