ZAMBOANGA, Aug. 18 (PNA) - The Armed Forces' Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) has launched an offensive against the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) forces that attacked Monday Lanao del Norte towns.

Westmincom chief Lt. Gen. Nelson Allaga said the offensive is aimed to clear and restore normalcy to the affected municipalities in Lanao del Norte.

Hundreds of MILF rebels attacked Monday three Lanao del Norte coastal towns namely Kauswagan, Kulambogan and Maigo.

Of the three towns, the rebels have occupied the town hall of Kolambugan.
