SEVEN coffee shops operating illegally on the Al Fateh Corniche have been given immunity until after Ramadan - their busiest time - by municipality officials.
The coffee shops are currently operating under expired licences, since the owners have refused to renew them unless they are allowed to continue serving sheesha.
Manama Municipality acting director-general Zuhair Al Dallal said that the municipality was negotiating with the Health Ministry to be lenient over regulations related to sheesha, to ensure the coffee shops get their licences renewed.
