I believe it is time to abolish the Electoral College and let the people decide directly whom the president should be.
We should amend the U.S. Constitution to ensure that the candidate for president who receives the most votes actually becomes the president. The Electoral College is an outdated institution that has long outlived its usefulness.
We choose every elected official in this country - from county coroner to U.S. senator - based on who gets the most votes. That's democracy. Every elected official, that is, except for the president, the most important office in the land. Instead, the president is chosen by an 18th century relic ...
