A SPECIAL lamp outside a local church shines an astronomical amount of light on an out-of-this-world project.
The Neptune Lamp at Kingscavil Church is part of the Kirkhill Pillar Project ? a series of public artworks representing the planets in the physical landscape of West Lothian.
It's based on a scale model created by David Stewart Erskine, 11th Earl of Buchan, in the late 18th century.
Using the Earl's calculations, plus up-to-date technology, workers with the Artlink group found that the planet Neptune corresponded with the spot where a rusty old lamp hung on Kingscavil ? and the idea was born to
