The enthusiasm of a Japanese taiko drum-beat is impossible to ignore. At the Pacific Rim Street Fest in Sacramento, athletic drummers evoke galloping horses and good-luck dragons, and add percussion to a festive atmosphere reverberating along the waterfront.
Many distinctive cadences can be heard at the gathering of nearly two dozen Asian and Pacific Islands cultures on May 11 in the Old Sacramento historic district.
