A MAJOR project costing about [pounds sterling]120,000 has begun on restoring masonry in the tower and replacing the west window in Swaffham parish church's 16th century tower.
Stonemasons who are qualified abseilers are working on the stonework in the 160ft tower to save the church having to find more than [pounds sterling]70,000 just for scaffolding.
And from Wednesday they should be joined by specialists who will be taking out the green Victorian glass from the window and replacing it with clear glass panes.
