The Cayuga-Seneca chapter of Upstate Citizens for Equality has pressed the state for some time to start collecting sales tax at Indian businesses.
Now the group is trying to take its message on the road.
Today, the UCE will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. at the SMS Hall in Seneca Falls to plan two motorcades in support of that message this fall. The first, on Oct. 4, would be in Cayuga and Seneca counties; the second would make a run to Albany Nov. 3.
UCE spokesman Richard Ricci said Monday it's been estimated the state is losing about $1.2 billion a year in uncollected sales tax at Indian businesses.
