NEW YORK - Long considered faddish by most consumers, homeopathic medicines are slowly becoming more widely accepted and are in increasing demand at drug chains.

Still, suppliers say that the category has a long way to go before it becomes a part of every chain drug store's merchandise mix. According to the American Homeopathic Pharmaceutical Association (AHPA), 18% of all homeopathic medicines purchased in 1994, the last year for which complete data is available, were bought at drug chains.
