Faced with the expiration of a tax levy, Elk River schools will go to voters Nov. 4 in an effort to keep it going.
Voters will be asked to renew the levy, which provides the district with $1.6 million a year in property tax revenues. The Elk River school board approved putting the request on the ballot earlier this week.
Renewal would keep the levy going for 10 more years.
District officials stressed that, because the measure is a renewal and not a new levy request, approval of the request would not raise taxes.
