Jose Ascensao pronounced himself reasonably satisfied after defeat in an opening Midland Alliance encounter at Sutton Park on Saturday in which a youthful and scratch-built Racing came up against six of last year's side.
Marcus Law took almost the entire class of 2005 with him when he departed to Leicestershire in April - and in the final reckoning it was a six-strong element of former Racers, including the contest's most influential player in skipper Robert Betts, which proved the difference along with a goal in each half from the pacey Nigel Julien.
