Warwick Riga women were unable to make it four straight wins over old rivals Polonia, who consolidated their claim on second place in the National League table with a 3-1 win (23-25, 25-22, 18-25 18-25).
The hosts had some early bad luck when outside hitter Ketlin Varri was forced off with a knee injury, a disruption that gave Polonia the upper hand. A time-out helped Riga and they pulled level before being edged out 25-23.
Riga's passing, led by libero Julie Bromell, improved markedly in a confident second set showing. Lisa Purcell began to use the middle hitters and Julia Verdich stamped her mark on the match as Riga took the honours at 25-22.
