Jump racing is experiencing renewed popularity with bumper crowds drawn to meetings over the Christmas and new year holidays, writes David Hucker.
The stands at Kempton Park were packed to the rafters on Boxing Day to see the talented Kauto Star win the Stan James King George VI Steeplechase, following in the footsteps of Arkle, Captain Christy and Desert Orchid. He is now as short as 2-1 to emulate them in the Cheltenham Gold Cup next March.
The loyal reader who followed my suggestions in October will be sitting on bets on the favourites for both the Gold Cup and Champion Hurdle (Detroit City) at odds considerably better than those now available.
