GRIFFITH PARK -- City officials called on hikers and other parkgoers Tuesday night to help them find -- or at least deter -- whoever set five fires in the rugged hills here over the weekend.
"The best thing we could do is scare the arsonist away," said Los Angeles Councilman Tom LaBonge, whose district includes Griffith Park.
Dozens of hikers and community members showed up at an informational meeting at a park visitors center, where LaBonge and firefighters encouraged them to be the eyes and ears for their beloved park.
