Aug. 21--Kerrville artist Dan Burt credits watercolor for helping him "let go." When he first began painting in the medium nearly 40 years ago, he was much more rigid, "wanting to be in control at all times." He was afraid to take risks, and the results, he said, were disastrous. "I ruined many sheets of paper, and I was not having fun," Burt wrote in his 1998 book on watercolor painting. "I finally learned to let the paint do what it wanted ... and to leave it alone."
