Crime in Milton Keynes is still rising at an alarming rate despite a pledge from the city's police chief to tackle the problem.
Four months ago, Chief Superintendent John Liversidge promised to "re-double" efforts following a sudden crime spike.
But figures released this week by Thames Valley
Police revealed crime is increasingly blighting the lives of Milton Keynes people.
Chief Supt Liversidge, speaking on behalf of the Community Safety Partnership, says the increases are down to the dramatic growth of the city - the official population growth was less than one per cent in that period - the opening of new retail outlets and changes in recording procedures.
