OLNEY will be holding a full weekend of events to celebrate the life of slave trade abolitionist John Newton and William Cowper, his co-writer of the hymn Amazing Grace.
The events, which coincide with the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade, take place at the Cowper and Newton Museum on Saturday and Sunday, April 28 and 29.
On the Saturday, there will be a number of talks, lunch and a walking tour of Olney. And in the evening the 70-strong Todd Murray singers and orchestra from the USA will be performing in the parish church.
Speakers during the day will be Brian Edwards, who will explore Newton's life and ministry in Olney, ...
