AS Queen Elizabeth II reached her 80th birthday last Friday, her visits to the Dales are remembered by those who met her on her numerous visits.
Our monarch has been a regular visitor to the Dales, with official visits in 1968, 1985 and 1992, and regular informal trips to Chatsworth to her friends the 11th Duke and Duchess of Devonshire .
And the Queen's significant birthday event was celebrated at Chatsworth with the new addition of a bronze bust of Elizabeth II commissioned by the former Duke to mark the occasion of her birthday.
The bust (pictured above left) was sculpted by Angela Conner and now sits in the Sculpture Gallery at Chatsworth.
