Corporate fraud initiative on ballot Proposal would make execs liable if they break law.(Business)

Colorado voters will decide this fall whether to support a tough new law that would make executives criminally liable if they break the law or allow employees to commit fraud.

The secretary of state's office certified Monday that the petition to get the initiative on the ballot had more than enough valid signatures to qualify.

The proposed amendment aims to close "a current gap in state law that allows executives to avoid responsibility" for fraud at their companies, according to the Protect Colorado's Future coalition behind the measure.
