HIGH winds wreaked havoc on the Dales yesterday as lorries were overturned, fallen trees blocked roads and whole swathes of forest were obliterated.
Farmer Steve Watson at Cold Habour Farm in Highoredish saw the terrible force of the storm first hand as 200 trees were ripped from the ground near to his farm.
He said: "We live in an eight acre wood and the wind has just ripped 60ft trees out of the ground.
"It was like a tornado, it has completely annihilated about three acres of the wood.
"We had a fire as well, as the cables set the fallen trees on fire.
"I have video footage of it, it was terrible. I could not believe it.
