Jun. 4--A ruling Monday from the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed a suit that claimed two Iron Range newspapers were violating trademark laws by using the name Saturday Daily News & Tribune.

The decision by the three-judge panel upholds a ruling made last July by U.S. District Court Judge Michael Davis of St. Paul.

The suit was filed by the Duluth News-Tribune after the Mesabi Daily News of Virginia and the Daily Tribune of Hibbing began publishing a combined Saturday edition in 1994.
