SOME of the finest livestock and produce England has to offer was on display at Tuesday's annual Melton Christmas Show and Sale.
The farming fraternity and fascinated spectators packed Melton Cattle Market to see rosettes awarded in classes of cattle, sheep, pigs, food and flowers in an event hailed as a triumph for agriculture in the face of troubled times.
The prestigious champion beast prize went to a limousin heifer from Manns Farm, Wymondham, run by Philip Allen.
He said: "I didn't expect to win. It's a once in a lifetime achievement.
"Keep on trying is the secret to it, trying does great things. I've entered this year after two or three years out of it. ...
