A YEAR-long trek back in time will see the history of a tiny hamlet finally recorded for future generations.
Residents of Wingates near Longhorsley decided to set up their own history group to find out more about the area's history.
With help from the Heritage Lottery fund they have spent the last 12 months bringing together historical photos and maps, and interviewing older members of the community.
Trained archaeologists were also on hand to help to help them unearth secrets from the village's past.
Their work is now to be brought together in a glossy publication.
