A UNITED NATIONS investigation of Israel's bombardment of a UN compound at Cana in Lebanon, where an estimated 100 civilians died, concluded that what happened was not, as Israel claims, a "terrible accident," but a deliberate and sustained attack. Israel and the U.S. have both rejected the report; Arab states have accepted it. That is where the matter will rest, at least until after Israel's May 29 elections.
