BRITTANY Ferries has signalled its confidence in Portsmouth Ferry Port by buying the fast cat Normandie Express from its New Zealand owner.
Though Spanish operator Acciona Trasmediterranea having controversially cancelled its sailings from Portsmouth to Bilbao without notice until April 27 for 'technical and operational reasons', Brittany is convinced there is a future at the port, and has pledged its commitment by shelling out millions.
The vessel, which the company has chartered for the past two years, came with a price tag of [pounds sterling]20m from owner Hi-Speed Catamarans of New Zealand.
