WASHINGTON -- At stake in the current reciprocal lawsuits involving Corpus Christi, Texas, Bishop Rene Gracida and Texas Attorney General Dan Morales is roughly $5 million in annual disbursements to sectarian and nonsectarian agencies from an oil-and-gas-based foundation.
Morales-wants to remove Gracida as president of the John G. and Stella Marie Kenedy Memorial Foundation and to remove all existing board members. He also seeks a full accounting from Gracida on all foundation funds provided to him or the diocese; wants to be granted an injunction preventing Gracida or any future Corpus Christi bishop from serving on the foundation's board; and seeks to have certain ...
