Controversial proposals to turn a derelict eyesore into a new business and residential village have been approved by planners.
The Lostock Hall Gas Works has stood empty since the 1970s, but now looks set to be revamped after new plans were given the go-ahead by South Ribble Council.
Work is currently being done at the site to remove any toxic substances remaining in the ground.
But residents in Penwortham, Lostock Hall and Walton-le-Dale have spoken out against the development plans, which they claim will clog up local roads and create a rat-run for motorists travelling to the A6.
