A former student of Myerscough College has been killed in a car accident.
Christopher Barrett, 20, of Chadderton near Oldham, died after the silver Volvo he was driving hit a lamppost in Blackley near Manchester at 8.10pm on Monday. He died from his injuries in hospital on Tuesday afternoon.
Mr Barrett took golf studies at Myerscough College, and had played the sport since the age of 11.
While at Myerscough College he played in the Prospects Tour and, just before his death, had been accepted by the Professional Golf Association.
For the last three years he had worked as an assistant at Bowlee Driving Range in Middleton.
