An investigation into waiting list figures has been launched at Royal Preston Hospital.
Independent auditors were called into the RPH following concerns figures could give a false picture of the time patients wait for treatment. At the same time, a whistleblower raised concerns about the hospital's waiting lists with the North West Strategic Health Authority (SHA).
It is understood auditors from Deloitte have been going through patient records to check that they received treatment at the time the hospital had claimed.They are looking at current waiting list figures and not into figures used to compile previously published lists.
