Jun. 6--Chrysler Corp. dedicated its sprawling $1.5-billion Auburn Hills headquarters Wednesday, but the man responsible for deciding to build it, Lee Iacocca, was nowhere to be found.
Iacocca, who helped lead billionaire investor Kirk Kerkorian's nearly yearlong attempt to take control of the automaker, was not invited to commemorate the 4.4-million-square-foot edifice begun when he was Chrysler's chairman.
His absence was noted during a news conference with Chrysler Chairman Robert Eaton, Iacocca's handpicked successor.
