Jun. 8--The state agriculture department is warning consumers not to use a fertilizer and weedkiller product called Scott's Bonus S Weed and Feed because it will destroy their lawns.
At least 27 20-pound bags of the product were sold this spring by On the Road Liquidator's in Sun Prairie, according to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.
Bonus S contains the herbicide atrazine. This particular formulation is made for lawn and garden use -- but for the types of grasses found in areas of the southern United States, said Karl Gutknecht, an agriculture department spokesman.
