It's been a sour summer for lemon-lovers. First, there was news reports of "dirty lemons" contaminated with E.coli served in restaurants. Then, poor weather caused world-wide lemon shortages, resulting in skyrocketing prices. The U.S. Department of Agriculture even reported in May 2008 that crops are down 12 percent compared to last year (see also True Lemon).

The result: Frustrated consumers concerned about the lack of available lemons nationwide, which only worsened as lemon demand increased during the warm summer months.
