BOSTON - With 45 stores and about a 5% share of the market, Brooks Pharmacy is the No. 4 drug chain here, and its approach to the Boston market differs from that of its larger competitors.
"The Boston area is important, but we have 166 stores throughout the state of Massachusetts, and we look upon all those markets as being equally important," says Bill Welsh, vice president of operations at the chain, which is a unit of the Jean Coutu Group, which is based in Longueuil, Quebec.
