Coffee and tea remain in good economic standing
In a recent interview with Tea and Coffee Trade Journal, Dr. Soria, Paraguay's Secretary for Commerce and Industry, refuted claims that Paraguay's coffee industry is on its way out. "Production and exports continue," said Soria, "and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has a National Commission for Coffee which is in charge of the control and production of all coffee exports."
The Commission, working together with the Paraguayan Ministry of Agriculture, published official figures showing that in 1994, 6,262 hectares were planted out to 4.9 million coffee plants and that production amounted to 5,002 tons. Frosts ...
