Research findings, 'Changes in bone markers after once-weekly low-dose alendronate in postmenopausal women with moderate bone loss,' are discussed in a new report. "High bone turnover, with bone resorption exceeding bone formation, is a major mechanism of postmenopausal osteoporosis. Therefore, inhibition of bone resorption is a rational approach for the prevention of bone loss," investigators in Korea report (see also Bone Research).
