As the final stretch of the race for the Oval Office comes into view, voters know all about John McCain's many homes and the hut Barack Obama's long-lost brother calls home in Kenya. But Americans would be hard-pressed to recite the candidates' views on fighting youth violence in their own backyards.

That's because they're not talking about crime.

"I don't think anyone's made anything clear yet," said Jack Parlon, president of the Detectives Benevolent Society. "It's disconcerting. I'm a little disappointed in both candidates."
