Rain batters Lancashire economy
Businesses in Lancashire are expecting to pick up a bill of [pounds sterling]3.5m after weeks of bad weather.
Farmers, tourist attractions and retailers across the county have all felt the pinch after the wettest June since records began followed by torrential downpours at the start of July.
It is estimated that a downturn in footfall on the high street could cost [pounds sterling]1.5m with a drop in visitor numbers at tourist attractions and blighted crop harvests the county's economy expected to account for a further [pounds sterling]2m.
And, it is feared the cost could escalate further with more wet ...
