Energy traders watched Tropical Storm Fay drench Florida as it approached the Gulf of Mexico where it could disrupt oil and natural gas production and refining facilities next week.
Fay was moving west across northern Florida toward the Gulf of Mexico. The center was near Gainesville, Florida, at 5 a.m. EDT (0900 GMT), according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center. The storm already caused extensive flooding across Florida and shut a reactor at FPL Group Inc's St Lucie nuclear power plant about 120 miles north of Miami on August 20.
The NHC forecast Fay would enter the Gulf of Mexico as a tropical storm in about 48 hours, but ...
