Potential history took a backseat to the valuable commodity that is Syracuse Chiefs pitcher Brett Cecil's left arm on Saturday.
Cecil no-hit Buffalo for seven innings at Alliance Bank Stadium. But he was yanked before the start of the eighth because he was one pitch shy of his hard-and-fast 90-pitch limit, losing a chance at a gem and almost costing the Chiefs a win. Syracuse's bullpen blew the no-hitter and then what looked like a comfy lead before the Chiefs rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth for a 5-4 victory.
